Capt. Frank Belcastro told NBC Bay Area that the 22-year-old was taken to the hospital with bruises to his face, and that he was injured just after 8:30 p.m.

He had been walking with a group of people near the campus science building and the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Library when some sort of argument broke out between the two. They struggled on the grass, which is when the suspect slammed the victim’s head into the ground.

How well the pair knew each other isn’t clear. But police said the suspect weighs about 160 pounds, looks about 20 years old and was wearing a teal Sharks T-shirt. The victim does not attend SJSU and Belcastro said he didn’t the suspect does either.
