The National Park Service is proposing to move the Alcatraz Ferry service from its current home on the Embarcadero near the Ferry Building to its old home on Fisherman's Wharf or to Pier 3 at Fort Mason, between Aquatic Park and the Marina Green.
Marina resident and several rowing clubs are not in favor of the service moving to Pier 3.
"I think it's going to impact rowers, swimmers and kayakers," said Phil Murphy with the Southend Rowing Club.
Peter Weiner, an attorney representing the Southend Rowing Club, said the National Park Service has not done a proper Environmental Impact Review.
"They are requested to do that by law," Weiner said. "They didn't do it."
Members of the rowing club feels ferry service from Fort Mason to Alcatraz would run right across their swimming lanes.
A spokesman for the park service said they want more room at the point of embarcation to Alcatraz.

"We would have exhibits," said Howard Levitt of the National Park Service. "We would have displays that would immerse people in the history of the island."
Levitt said the current site at Pier 31 and a half isn't bad, but could be a lot better. In addition, the park service already owns the piers at Fort Mason.
Meanwhile, Marina District Supervisor Mark Farrell is asking Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Dianne Feinstein to oppose the move to Fort Mason.
