Oakland AC Transit Will Continue Service to Schools During Teacher Strike

In light of Oakland teachers' decision to strike, the Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District (AC Transit) announced Saturday that they would maintain their bus service to and from schools during the labor strike.

Transit officials expect the strike to lead to "logistical uncertainties," like less bus frequency, temporary closure of bus stops, and detours, according to a statement.

AC Transit has worked with Oakland Unified School District to provide transportation for students for over two decades. The Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) supports the strike and said they would not cross picket lines established by Oakland Education Association (OEA).

Oakland teachers intend to strike Thursday for higher wages, smaller class sizes and more resources for students, OEA announced Saturday.
