As Thanksgiving approaches, a local rap star has returned to his annual effort to make the holiday more special for many deserving families in Oakland.
Mistah FAB (Stanley Cox) hosted his 11th annual Thanksgiving event Tuesday in front of his Dope Era clothing store in North Oakland. He told NBC Bay Area that about 600 free turkeys were given out to people to prepare at home as well as a number of warm coats and covers. Hot plates to eat on the spot were also served.
FAB's philanthropic efforts in Oakland also include annual back to school and Christmas giveaways. On the entertainment front, he has released a new remix single for "Still Feelin' It" and video for "Cry About It" in the past week; both are heavily laden with references to life growing up in Oakland and the Bay Area.
