Police are investigating an attempted home invasion that occurred in Sausalito on Tuesday evening.

Sausalito police responded to a call from a resident in the 100 block of Central Avenue at around 8 p.m.

The victim told police that a male suspect gained entry to her residence through a side door and then confronted her in the living room, where he pointed a gun at her and demanded money.

The victim screamed at the suspect to get out of her house, according to police.

The suspect then pushed the woman and fled the residence on foot. He did not take anything belonging to the victim, police said.

Officers arrived at the scene and conducted an extensive search of the area but  were unable to locate the suspect.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Sausalito Police Department at (415) 289-4170.
