SJ Police Raid Home, Convenience Store in Connection to Illegal Gaming, Prostitution and Drugs

Police on Tuesday cracked down and raided a convenience store and house in East San Jose in connection to gaming, prostitution and drug deals.

Neighbors, who for months have complained about the activity at the house on Bougeron Court, were relieved to see a SWAT team raid the home.

Police said they executed a search warrant at the property and found evidence linked to illegal gaming, drug dealing, stolen vehicles, prostitution and identity theft. Officers arrested four people in connection with the suspected illegal gaming operation.

"If we can knock out illegal gaming, it's a win for the neighborhood," Lt. Jason Dwyer said.

The investigation at the home led police to the Merienneth store on Capitol Expressway and Senter Road. No one was inside the business, but police discovered nine illegal gaming machines.

"We believe there was ongoing criminal enterprise and illegal activity, gambling and possibly prostitution and narcotics," Dwyer said.
