Good news for San Francisco Giants fans in the North Bay.
The “Giants Ferry," which was nixed last month, was officially reinstated Tuesday, just in time for the baseball team’s home opener Thursday afternoon.
The Golden Gate Transportation District announced on March 25 that service from the Larkspur Ferry Terminal to AT&T Park on Opening Day was cancelled because there was no ship available to transport fans.
At the time of the cancellation, three out of the fleet's seven vessels were in maintenance and the service could not both continue its regular commute schedule and dedicate a ship to carry fans to the ballpark, said Priya Clemens, district spokeswoman. But the ferry service found some luck, she said, when one of its vessels, The Marin, returned from maintenance early.
Fans that still have a ticket for the Opening Day ferry ride are instructed to call the Golden Gate Transportation District customer service hotline to make sure that their original ticket is still valid.
