San Francisco Trader Josh Sanchez-Maldonado Mysteriously Vanishes After Traveling to London for Job Interview

Concern is growing over the disappearance of San Francisco trader Josh Sanchez-Maldonado, a 24-year-old U.S. national who vanished under mysterious circumstances after traveling to London for a job interview last week.

Sanchez-Maldonado, who is based in San Francisco, arrived in the United Kingdom from Japan on Oct. 21 and was last seen leaving the St. Giles Hotel in Feltham around 12:35 a.m. on Oct 22, London Metropolitan Police said. Police say he did not have any money or access to it.

The exact details of his job interview in the U.K. are not known, according to London police.

"Josh is a lovable person and we have left our world back home to be here for him,” Sanchez-Maldonado’s family, who are currently in the U.K., said in a plea for assistance to find him. "He is very goal oriented, very organized, detailed, kind, lovable and a respectful person."

Police released more images of Sanchez-Maldonado Thursday to help aid the search. He is described as approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a slim build and short dark hair, and was last seen wearing a dark colored flat cap, a brown/grey T-shirt, white shorts and black trainers.

Sanchez-Maldonado was scheduled to fly out of Heathrow to San Francisco via Dublin on Oct. 22, but he did not make the flight. His father last spoke to him on Oct 21, but nobody in his family has heard from him since. According to police, who are growing increasingly concerned for his safety, there have been no further sightings of Sanchez-Maldonado.

His father says that his son β€” who was traveling outside the country on his own for the first time for this trip β€” spoke with him every day during the course of his trip.

"He has always kept in close communication to us. He is outspoken and very expressive,” His family said. "The whole family is highly concerned for his well-being. We really wish he contacts us as soon as possible.”

"Josh please contact us, your parents, your brother or sister through email, text, phone call or by any other means," his family said in an emotional plea.
