San Jose Firefighter Injured Battling House Fire

A firefighter suffered minor burns while responding to a house fire in San Jose Wednesday morning, a fire captain said.

The one-alarm blaze was reported in the 3300 block of Falls Creek Drive near Verona Road at 9:28 a.m., a fire dispatcher said.

The fire started on the second floor of a two-story home, Capt. Cleo Doss said.

Three adults and two children got out of the home safely before fire crews arrived, Doss said.

Crews initially entered the home through the front door but later went into defensive mode and battled the blaze from the outside, Doss said.

The fire was controlled at 10:53 a.m., Doss said.

The American Red Cross has been called in to assist the individuals who were displaced, Doss said.

The injured firefighter was sent to the hospital for treatment of burn injuries and has since been released, Doss said.
