San Jose Girl Appears To Have Been Kidnapped, But No Victims Reported Yet

A kidnapping appears to have transpired in San Jose this week, with multiple witnesses reporting a girl disappearing into a man's van. But there's a catch: nobody's been reported missing yet, and without an apparent victim, investigators don't know where to begin.

The young girl, age and identity unknown, was seen riding a bicycle near a San Jose elementary school at around 7:55 a.m. on Thursday, according to the San Jose Mercury News. A man popped out of the bushes to address the girl, who appeared reluctant to speak to him at first, witnesses told police.

The pair then walked to a dark green Dodge Caravan, older model. The man took the girl's bicycle and placed it into the van while she voluntarily got into the passenger seat, and the pair drove off.

Police are asking additional witnesses to come forward and call them at 408-277-4166. The man is described as 5 foot, 8 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds, the newspaper reported. He was wearing black athletic pants with two white stripes on the sides and a light blue t-shirt. There was no further description of the girl, the newspaper added.
