Sharks Open Road Trip With Win Thanks to Late Heroics

In his first game since November 28, Joonas Donskoi played the hero. The Finnish winger scored the game-winning goal with 2:48 remaining, and the Sharks opened their three-game road trip with a 3-2 win over the Calgary Flames.

Chris Tierney and Timo Meier each scored a goal and an assist. Donskoi also assisted on Meier's goal, his second multi-point game of the season.

Calgary captalized on a Tim Heed turnover 4:42 into the first period, and Michael Frolik's unassisted effort gave the Flames a 1-0 lead. Another turnover led to the Flames' second, as Marc-Edouard Vlasic couldn't keep the puck in the offensive zone and Johnny Gaudreau scored a tap-in off of the ensuing rush to tie the game at two.

San Jose's road trip continues against the Canucks Friday night in Vancouver.
