Bay Area Homes Sell Faster Than Anywhere Else

Move fast and sell things. That is, houses.

Homes in San Francisco and Silicon Valley are some of the fastest-selling real estate in the United States. Residential properties here are on the market for an average of 36 days before a sale is closed, according to the Silicon Valley Business Journal.

The quickest? Oakland, where homes are on the market for 35 days, the newspaper reported.

Oakland has over 4,500 homes on the market, almost double that of San Francisco and San Jose. San Francisco still has the most-expensive real estate, with a median price of $949,000, nearly double that of $500,000 Oakland.

Fierce competition for what living space is available means that homes sell high as well as quickly.
