A driver in Petaluma allegedly fled from the scene of a crash that gruesomly injured a passenger in the car, sending her to the hospital after being impaled by a metal fence.
The victim was a passenger in a Honda Civic when, for an unknown reason, the car flew into the air and landed on a metal fence.
The civic landed atop a metal fence, which cut through and impaled the woman, who was still conscious, according to onlookers. A witness told NBC Bay Area that everyone was focused on keeping the woman calm.
Police are trying to determine whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
