AAA Offering Free Rides For Super Bowl Party Goers Too Tipsy To Drive

The American Automobile Association will be offering free rides and vehicle tows on Super Bowl Sunday to ensure that tipsy drivers don't score a DUI arrest.

The annual Tipsy Tow service is free for up to ten miles and is for anyone, not just AAA members, AAA officials said.

"AAA wants motorists to plan ahead for a safe ride home if they are planning on attending a Super Bowl party where alcohol is involved," Michael Blasky, AAA Northern California spokesman said in a statement.

"But if your plans fall through, we encourage drivers, passengers, party hosts and restaurant managers to take advantage of our services, as driving while intoxicated is never a winning play," he said.

The service is set to start at 6 p.m. on Sunday and go through 6 a.m. on Monday morning.

After the free 10 miles, drivers will be charged standard towing rates, AAA officials said. The rides are only for drivers trying to get to their homes or hotel.

To use the Sunday service, anyone seeking a safe ride for an impaired driver can call (800) 222-4357 and say that they need a Tipsy Tow.
