Here's a curious development: Apple appears to be secretly installing AT&T LTE equipment in at least some of its retail stores ahead of the launch of the iPhone 5. But why?
The chances of the iPhone 5 being LTE are still pretty slim. Neither Verizon nor AT&T's LTE network is ready for an LTE iPhone, and LTE chips still hog a ton of energy, draining batteries faster. We're probably still a year out from a true 4G iPhone. So why the heck is Apple getting LTE equipment in their stores? Any guesses?
