Following the shooting deaths of five Dallas officers on Thursday night, Bay Area police, along with other departments across the country, have taken to the streets and to Twitter, to mourn the lost lives and show their support.
The sentiments from various police departments display a strong sense of community between the police officers, with many of the messages referring to the Dallas victims as their brothers.
Many of the departments’ messages included pictures of police badges covered diagonally with a black stripe.
San Jose Police Chief Eddie Garcia's message stood out above the rest: “God Bless the peacekeepers…Our hearts are with you Dallas!”
