Fire crews battled two brush fires in San Jose on Sunday afternoon, according to the San Jose Fire Department.
The first blaze was reported about 1:55 p.m. at Corie Court and Oakland Road, fire officials said. Some homeless folks drove a car into a creek bed, and when they tried to get it out, they spun the tires, sending sparks flying and igniting a two-acre brush fire that threatened a mobile home park, fire officials said.
Firefighters got it under control before any structures burned.
The sceond blaze was reported about 2:30 p.m. near East Brokaw Road and Ridder Park Drive behind a Lowe’s store. The fire burned 2 acres and is suspicious, according to Capt. Mitch Matlow. It’s under investigation, he said.
There were no injuries reported from either fire.
