California Drought Watch: Boys Use Bare Hands to Save Water

Two kids from Campbell used cups and jugs to scoop up water that was being wasted.

Two South Bay boys are so fed up with wasting water they are taking matters into their own hands.

NBC Bay Area viewer Maggie Blanco sent us this photo of her grandchildren in Campbell. Moses and Angel, ages 9 and 7, are sitting next to a drain that keeps leaking water. The issue was reported to the San Jose Water Company, which has marked the area but has not fixed the issue yet.

Blanco says the boys collected 50 gallons of water in 80 minutes. They plan on using it to water plants and trees in the neighborhood.

Water officials are urgently reminding people that water conservation in one place could go a long way preventing problems in another area.
