Crash Into Power Pole Closes Streets, Knocks Out Power in Napa

A crash in Napa sheared a power pole tonight, closing streets and knocking out power for thousands of residents and businesses in the area, utility officials said.

A driver crashed into a pole in the area of Silverado Trail and Sousa Lane at about 9:30 p.m., PG&E spokesman J.D. Guidi said.

The pole was knocked over held up by the power lines, Guidi said. Power was knocked out for 2,445 PG&E customers.

PG&E crews are in the area making repairs, Guidi said, but he did not have an estimate when the repairs would be complete.

Napa police advised residents via Twitter just after 10 p.m. to avoid the area of Silverado Trail between Saratoga Avenue and Fairview Drive. Police said Sousa Lane was also closed between Soscol Avenue and Silverado Trail.

Streets are expected to remain closed in the area until 5 or 8 a.m., police said.

Police did not immediately return requests for more information about the crash.
