A motorcyclist suffered major injuries after losing control of his motorcycle and colliding into a vehicle while riding at high speeds on state Highway 84 Tuesday afternoon, according to Livermore police.
The collision was reported around 3:42 p.m. Tuesday on the highway, which is also Isabel Avenue, police said.
Officers were conducting speed-enforcement patrols in the area because of the roadway's reputation for a high volume of speed-related collisions when they noticed the man speeding at what they estimated to be around 100 mph, according to police.
Before officers could pull over the motorcyclist, he crashed into a vehicle at the intersection of Isabel Avenue and Jack London Avenue, police said. He was taken a hospital. Police didn't say if the driver of the other vehicle was injured.
The road was closed around 4 p.m. and reopened around 8 p.m. Drugs or alcohol haven't been ruled out as factors in the collision.
Anyone with any information in the case is asked to call police at (925) 371-4777.
