Elderly South Bay Woman Dies After Making Driving Mistake: Police

The Santa Clara County medical examiner's office has identified the victim of a fatal two-vehicle collision in Santa Clara on Thursday as  81-year-old Gloria Foster.

Police said Foster was driving a Chevrolet Cavalier that collided with a BMW 750 in the 2100 block of Walsh Avenue at about 3:10 p.m.

Preliminary reports indicate that Foster exited a driveway and in doing so violated the right of way of the BMW, police said.

The driver of the Cavalier was taken to the hospital, where she died. No one in the BMW was injured, according to police.

Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the collision.

Anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to call Santa Clara police Sgt. Oliver at 408-615-4763.
