Famed Police Dog “Thor” Dies In Antioch

Thor, legendary Antioch police dog, dies Dec. 30 at 14.

Thor's patrol is over.

The famous Antioch police dog, who was once shot in the neck in the line of duty, died Dec. 30 at the age of 14, according to the Contra Costa Times.

The "truly epic working dog" served as the Antioch Police Department's main K9 cop from 2002 to 2012. And it was in 2010 when he was shot by a burglary suspect -- who was apprehended after Thor held onto the suspect long enough for police to apprehend him, the newspaper reported.

Police said that "Thor saved our lives" that day, according to cops' Facebook posts.

In addition to taking a bullet, Thor was also run over twice while working on "dozens of narcotics finds and more than 40 apprehensions of suspects," police told the newspaper.
