FREEDOM, Calif. (AP) — Four people are dead and four others injured after a head-on collision in Northern California.
The Santa Cruz Sentinel reports Monday that California Highway Patrol Officer Brad Sadek says the crash occurred about 8 p.m. Sunday in Santa Cruz County.
The crash happened after a Mercedes sedan, traveling west, crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a Ford F-150 truck.
The driver and two of the six passengers in the Mercedes were pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger in the Mercedes was transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. None were wearing seat belts. Their names were not released.
The truck driver went to a hospital with major injuries. Three others went to various hospitals with minor and major injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
