A high-speed police chase ended in San Francisco Thursday morning, after a woman crashed her vehicle into a fire hydrant on Mission Street.
The chase started at 2:48 a.m. when a Hayward California Highway Patrol unit tried to stop a possible DUI driver on Northbound 880 near Davis Street in San Leandro.
The woman driving the vehicle did not stop and continued driving towards Oakland. The chase reached speeds over 100 mph, CHP said.
At around 3:00 a.m., the driver got back on Westbound 80 and took the Bay Bridge into San Francisco. She got off the freeway at Fremont Street and crashed into a fire hydrant on Mission Street, according to CHP officers.
While she tried to run away on foot, the suspect was taken into custody at 3:12 a.m. and booked on evasion charges.
