Kittens Snatched from East Bay Adoption Event Returned

Fledgling felines in the East Bay are back in safe hands after being stolen from an adoption event over the weekend.

The kittens, Walt Whitman and Allen Ginsberg, were snatched by two teenage girls at a Pet Food Express in Lafayette on Sunday.

"Apparently, they grabbed and ran out the back here," said Carole Reese from the Community for Concerned Cats, one of the organizers of the adoption event. "The store employees were taken aback and saw them rush by them."

Fortunately for the 11-week-old felines, a Facebook post was penned to raise the alarm. A friend of the two minors saw the post and immediately told them to return the kittens.

The two minors brought the kittens back to the store on Tuesday and will not face charges.

"Well, I think it was not a good thing to do and I hope they realize there are specific consequences," said Candice Olsen from the Community for Concerned Cats.
