Limo Company Offers New Luxury Ride

Private company to compete with public transportation

Bauer's Intelligent Transportation, a local limousine and private shuttle company, is introducing a luxury bus service stretching from Marin to Santa Clara.

Amenities will include wireless Internet access and plugs for laptops, television, leather seats and even a host offering coffee and breakfast items for sale.

The service will cost $8.20 each way on most routes, with discounts for regular customers, and is similar to the shuttles Bauer's operates for Silicon Valley companies like Yahoo and Google.

Commuters looking to test-drive the service can ride free this week starting tomorrow, or half-price next week.

Current routes include two from San Francisco to the peninsula and one from Larkspur to San Francisco. Another peninsula route and service to Stockton are also planned.

"We're trying to get people out of their Mercedes or Lexus, people who wouldn't ride public transit," founder and CEO Gary Bauer told the San Francisco Chronicle.

So if you ever wanted to learn how the Google half lived on their commutes, now's your chance. Photo by Richard Masoner.

Jackson West is looking for an excuse to go to Sunnyvale so he can try out the service.
