Louis Gossett Jr. Flies into San Jose

Gossett wins Cinequest award

Much-loved actor Louis Gossett Jr. has come to the Bay Area to accept an award for his long career.

The Cinequest Film Festival in San Jose screened a new Gossett movie called The Least Among You." Gossett attended the screening, which was held on Tuesday, March 3. The festival bestowed the "Maverick Spirit Award" on Gossett.

Gossett also answered questions from the audience at the California Theatre.

The movie also stars Lauren Holly, William Devane and Cedric Sanders.

Gossett's movie and TV career dates back to 1958. He has appeared in almost 160 TV and movie productions including The Jeffersons, Good Times, Roots, Iron Eagle and an Officer and a Gentleman. He won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for An Officer and a Gentleman in 1982.
