Mattel Features San Francisco Ballet's Yuan Yuan Tan in its Barbie Global Role Models Series

Who run the world? Girls. Barbie girls that is.

Mattel announced the latest 14 dolls in its Barbie Global Role Models series, inspired by real women, just in time for International Women's Day on March 8.

Of those featured is San Francisco Ballet's Yuan Yuan Tan, the youngest dancer in the history of San Francisco Ballet and the first Chinese dancer to reach that position in a major Western company, SF Gate reports.

"I'm incredibly honored to be part of the Shero collection," Tan told SF Gate via email. "It's important to me that young girls know that they can be anything they want to be, so they should dream big and never give up!"

Tan is dressed in her Swan Lake costume and stands with many other inspiring women and girls as part of the Barbie Shero program. One that honors real women "who have broken boundaries in their fields and have been an inspiration to the next generation of girls," a Mattel news release said.

Others dolls include Olympic snowboarding champion Chloe Kim, "Wonder Woman" director Patty Jenkins, entrepreneur and fashion designer Vicky Martin Berrocal and soccer player Sara Gama.

"As a brand that inspires the limitless potential in girls, Barbie will be honoring its largest lineup of role models timed to International Women’s Day because we know that you can’t be what you can’t see," said Lisa McKnight, senior vice president and general manager of the Barbie brand in a news release. "Girls have always been able to play out different roles and careers with Barbie and we are thrilled to shine a light on real-life role models to remind them that they can be anything."

The toy manufacturing company is seeking suggestions for more inspiring women via hashtag #MoreRoleModels on social media.

As of now, the latest Shero collection is not for sale.
