New York Street Food Favorite The Halal Guys Starts Delivery in SF

The Halal Guys, a cult favorite in New York City known for its gyros, chicken and rice and consistent lines, has started offering limited items for delivery service in San Francisco.

According to Eater SF, ordering of $11.99 rice platters started via the delivery service Caviar on Tuesday. A message on the Caviar site explains that pre-orders for Thursday are now available because of popular demand. The menu will be available between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The Halal Guys are expected to open their first Bay Area locations at 307 O'Farrell Street in San Francisco, 2126 Center Street in Berkeley and 81 Curtner Avenue in San Jose. All are expected to debut by this summer.

Halal cooking refers to food that is prepared under Islamic dietary guidelines, something the Bay Area hasn't traditionally had in abundance.
