Peninsula Teen Dies After Stabbing

A 16-year-old boy who was stabbed in what appeared to be a gang-related incident died from his wounds on Saturday, according to the San Mateo County coroner's office.

Earlier on Saturday, at about 1:20 a.m., three juvenile boys were walking southbound in the 100 block of Franklin Street when a red or orange compact car pulled up to them and several people exited.

Six males between the ages of 16 and 20 allegedly confronted the boys and physically assaulted them, according to Redwood City police. One teen was stabbed.

The suspects got back in their car and fled south on Franklin Street.

The stabbing victim was transported to a local hospital where he later died.
