Golden Gate Bridge officials want to eliminate all toll-takers on the bridge by December 2012, replacing them with an electronic system.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports the system would involve using video cameras to snap images of drivers' license plates numbers. Drivers not using the FasTrak would be billed by mail for the their tolls.
Bridge officials say cutting the toll collectors would save them $16 million over the course of 10 years.
The issue could be approved by the full board of directors by month's end.
