Pleasanton Police Release Surveillance Video of Grab-and-Go Apple Store Heist

Police say 10 iPhones were stolen from the Apple Store at the Stoneridge Mall last week.

Pleasanton police released video on Wednesday of a grab-and-go theft that took place last week at the Apple Store at the Stoneridge Mall.

The heist took place Thursday night, Jan. 14, according to police, who say the four men seen in the video entered the store and stole 10 iPhones from a display before fleeing.

Since October, Pleasanton police have released four surveillance camera videos of grab-and-go thefts from the same Apple Store. The grab-and-go thefts are also happening in Walnut Creek, police said.

Customers said the Apple Store is an easy target.

"They're really playing on the fact it's open, an inviting area and full of distraction," customer Brant Watson said. "People can get out quickly."

Police said investigators are putting video images in a facial recognition database, but have yet to land any matches because the images are too small.

Investigators are relying on the public to help identify the thieves. Anyone who recognizes the suspects is asked to contact the Pleasanton Police Department at 925-931-5100.
