San Francisco Police Seek Teenage Girl in Stonestown Pepper Spray Incident That Sickened 16 People

San Francisco police said they are looking for a teenage girl in connection with a pepper spray incident at the Stonestown Galleria mall Monday night that affected 16 people, including three who were hospitalized.

Police said a girl between 15 and 17 years of age walked into a store in the mall, located at 3251 20th Ave., just after 8 p.m. and pulled out a canister, then sprayed an orange-colored mist into the air before fleeing on foot.

Sixteen people were treated for coughing and eye irritation, including three who were taken to a hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening, police said.

No arrest had been reported in the case as of Tuesday morning.

The mall was not evacuated, but a few stores were closed during the incident, according to fire officials.
