San Jose police released the sketch of a man they say attempted to kidnap a little girl Tuesday night from her mother's arms.

A woman called 911 around 5:30 p.m. from a home on the 200 block of Dayo Court in East San Jose, according to police.

A woman told police her daughter was playing in the front yard of their home with her other siblings when a man approached the children and said something to the three year old.

"I was playing with my daughters and he was commenting about how beautiful they were and the color of their hair and one thing lead to another and when he knelt down he grabbed my daughter by her feet-by her ankles, and we were tugging at each other" the woman told NBC Bay Area.

His actions made her uncomfortable so she struggled with the man until she was able to free her daughter and take her inside.

The man was last scene running off southbound on Paven Drive, according to police.  Police canvassed the area and could not find him Tuesday night. Efforts to track him down continued Wednesday.

Police said they immediately canvassed the area and were unable to find the man. The only description is a man in his 20s wearing a red baseball cap, blue jeans and a white or tan shirt with yellow stripes.

The woman also told police he smelled like motor oil.
