Suspects Arrested After Toys R Us Carjacking in Hayward

Three men were taken into custody, via ambulance, after Hayward police said they carjacked a woman in the Toys R Us parking lot early Tuesday, and crashed their getaway car trying to evade police.

Lt. Guy Jakub said police spotted three suspects carjacking a woman with a pistol in the toy store parking lot on Hesperian Boulevard at 1:30 a.m.

When they tried to stop them, the suspects took off. But the driver ended up crashing their car into a light pole and pedestrian guardrail at the corner of Hesperian and Bancroft Avenue in San Leandro. All three were taken into custody.

Jakub said the woman was not injured.
