Eastbound state Highway 92 in Hayward has a new configuration ahead of the Monday morning commute.
The change means a thousands of east-bound drivers will be forced to make a quick decision. If they make the wrong one they will find themselves several miles out of their way.
The new configuration of the four-lane highway features a traffic-split, with the two left lanes keeping motorists on eastbound Highway 92 toward downtown Hayward, according to Caltrans.
The two right lanes have been shifted to the right, and motorists traveling in the third lane will have the option of going to downtown Hayward or northbound Interstate Highway 880 toward Oakland.
The far right lane of the highway is for motorists headed southbound on Highway 880 toward San Jose, according to Caltrans.
Signs are in place to advise motorists of the changes.
As of 7 a.m. there were no significant delays reported by the change.
