Tico’s Tacos Closes After 56 Years in San Jose

A San Jose landmark has turned out the lights and locked up for good.

Tico's Tacos has served generations of South Bay residents over the last 56 years, but the owner says it's time to retire, the Silicon Valley Business Journal reports.

Tico's, opened in 1957, has a new owner. Developer Barry Swenson has purchased the half-acre property, 291 N. 4th St., and plans to put in a modern restaurant, according to the paper.

With the new Family Justice Center going up nearby, Swenson's team predicts the new place will be busy.

Viewer Eddie Zepeda alerted NBC Bay Area about the closing via email. He wrote, “I went to this place as a kid and had other friends who enjoyed this place very much growing up.”
