Your trips on Uber and Lyft may become a little more expensive following a proposed hike by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC).
Sacramento has already passed a law that goes into effect July 1 to charge people who use ride sharing services like Uber and Lyft an extra five cents per trip under bill SB 1376, authored by Senator Jerry Hill of San Mateo.
The extra charge is to help those companies provide wheelchair service after multiple reports of people in wheelchairs being stuck at the curb.
The San Francisco Examiner reported that the CPUC wants to double that fee to 10 cents.
Uber has argued that the fee increase should start only in San Francisco and Los Angeles.
The CPUC is not expected to make a decision until late June.
