A 17-year-old alleged gang member believed to be sending threatening messages to a high school student was arrested Wednesday morning in Watsonville, police said.
According to police, an investigation began at the end of January when the victim told school officials about the threats, which allegedly included references to a gang.
Officers obtained a search warrant and Wednesday morning, law enforcement served it at the suspect's home on Dawson Street.
Police said inside the home, officers found an unsecured, loaded gun within the reach of a child. Police said officers also allegedly found evidence the suspect made threats and is part of a gang.
The suspect was taken to juvenile hall.
