15-Year-Old Films Video While Holding Gun, Threatening Another Teen: Police

Police recovered a semiautomatic handgun and arrested the teen

A Pomona High School student has been arrested on suspicion of threatening an Emerson Middle School student via social media, police said Wednesday.

The 15-year-old boy was taken into custody on Tuesday and booked on suspicion of making criminal threats, Pomona Police Sgt. Bruce Hagerty said. His name was withheld because of his age.

No threat was made against either school, Hagerty said. The alleged victim is a 14-year-old boy.

"The Pomona Police Department received a call from Pomona Unified School District security regarding a student at Emerson Middle School who had received a social media video from another student making threats towards him while holding a handgun," Hagerty said.

The investigation led to the suspect's home, where police recovered a semiautomatic handgun and arrested the teen, Hagerty said.

"There were no threats on the school campus, and there is no information that a weapon was ever brought to school," Hagerty said.

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call the Pomona Police Department at (909) 620-2085.
