49ers RB Hyde Not Sure If He'll Play Due to Shoulder

SANTA CLARA – The 49ers had their one padded practice of the week on Thursday, and running back Carlos Hyde continued to be off-limits for contact.

Hyde did not sound optimistic when asked if he believes he will be able to play on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints at Levi’s Stadium.

“I don’t know,” Hyde said. “I really hope so. We’ll see.”

Hyde sustained an injury to the AC joint in his right shoulder in the 49ers’ 45-16 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Oct. 16. He sat out the 49ers’ loss the following week to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Now, coming off the bye week, Hyde said his shoulder is still sore but it feels a lot better.

“I made a lot of improvement,” he said. “I’m back practicing, running around with the guys and stuff. Just trying to take it day-by-day.

“I don’t know how it would feel if I got hit now.”

Hyde leads the 49ers with 429 yards and six touchdowns on 109 rushing attempts.

Coach Chip Kelly said the plan is for DuJuan Harris to be active for Sunday’s game, regardless of Hyde’s condition. Harris made his season debut against Tampa Bay and rushed for 39 yards on 11 carries.
