Alex Smith is on a roll -- his Kansas City Chiefs have won their first three games of the season.
And that's good news for the San Francisco 49ers, the much-maligned, then-redeemed quarterback's old team.
With every win the former first overall pick racks up, the 49ers' odds of getting a better draft pick in 2014 increases, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
In exchange for Smith, the 49ers received a second round pick in the 2013 draft and a third-round pick in the 2014 draft.
That third-round pick becomes a second-rounder, however, if the Chiefs win at least eight games.
That sounded like a reach when the Chiefs finished 2-14 last year -- but Smith, who has yet to commit a turnover, is making it seem likely.
