A's Vs. Rangers Lineups: Brett Anderson Makes First Start as New Father

OAKLAND -- Brett Anderson will make his first start as a father when the A's open a four-game series against the Texas Rangers on Thursday night at the Coliseum.

Anderson's wife Morgan gave birth to the couple's first child, a son named Brody, on Monday. The A's left-hander was activated from the paternity list earlier Thursday.

Anderson is putting together his best season in four years, entering Thursday's start with a 9-5 record and a 3.82 ERA. The 31-year-old is 3-4 with a 4.77 ERA in 15 career games against the Rangers, including 12 starts.

Texas will counter with 23-year-old Ariel Jurado. The right-hander is 5-6 with a 4.92 ERA in 21 games this season, including 11 starts. In two career appearances against the A's, Jurado is 0-2 with a 12.79 ERA.

Oakland will send out its usual starting lineup, with catcher Josh Phegley returning after getting Wednesday off in Houston. Phegley will bat ninth in the order. Jurickson Profar will once again start at second base and hit eighth.
