Rajai Davis ended a 50-game homerless streak and helped the A's end a four-game losing streak with a 5-4 victory over the Dodgers. Trevor Cahill pitched well (5.1 IP, 4 Hits, 0 ER, 4 BB and 3 K's) in his NL park debut. The Rookie also collected his first career hit in his first at-bat, slapping an opposite field single against counterpart Hiroki Kuroda.
Davis hadn't homered since September 5th of last year, when he hit a Grand Slam vs the Orioles. Jack Cust hit his 12th home run of the season, a solo shot off of Kuroda in the third inning to give the A's a 4-0 lead. The Oakland bullpen pitched the final 3 2/3 innigs, giving up two runs before eventually holding on when Andrew Bailey got Casey Blake to end the game on a groundout.
The rubber match of the series is on Thursday at 7:00pm. Randy Wolf will pitch for LA vs A's rookie phenom Vin Mazzaro. The A's are 11-3 against the Dodgers over their last 14 meetings.
