ALAMEDA – Raiders quarterback Derek Carr was asked several times about his right pinky, a digit made famous during Sunday’s 35-32 victory over Carolina.
He dislocated it in two places early in the second half, popped it back in place and led the Raiders to this season’s fifth fourth-quarter comeback. Carr was able to throw well with a glove on his throwing hand, and promised to practice and play heading into next week’s game against Buffalo.
That didn’t stop a flurry of questions about his finger in his weekly meeting with the press.
His answers followed a similar script: “My finger’s doing great,” Carr said. “Thanks for asking.”
Derek, will you have to take snaps exclusively from the shotgun?
“No limitations,” Carr said. “It’s doing great. Thank you.”

“I did not see that, but it’s awesome,” Carr said. “That’s great.”
That was before Wednesday’s practice. Derek was seen working with a glove (not that it matters much, considering how well he threw against Carolina) during portions of practice open to the media.
Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio, who didn’t say much about Carr’s finger, showed a sense of humor and wore a glove on his right hand during practice.
He took snaps from the shotgun during that stretch. Carr said on Sunday that he would practice and then play against the Bills, though he’ll certainly treat it gingerly during the week.
