A's Vs. Rangers Lineups: Khris Davis Sits After Four-strikeout Night

OAKLAND -- In the midst of one of the biggest slumps of his career, A's slugger Khris Davis will get a night off as Oakland plays host to the Texas Rangers.

Davis went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts in Friday's loss and is 1-for-23 with 11 strikeouts in his last six games. Mark Canha will serve as DH, with Chad Pinder playing right field and batting eighth.

Meanwhile, Franklin Barreto gets the start at second base in place of Jurickson Profar. Barreto has struggled since getting called up from Triple-A Las Vegas, going just 5-for-41 with a pair of home runs. He will bat ninth.

Right-hander Homer Bailey will make his third start for Oakland since coming over from Kansas City. The 33-year-old's first outing went well, as he limited the Mariners to two runs in six innings. But in his most recent start at Houston, he allowed nine earned runs in just two innings.

For the season, Bailey is 8-7 with a 5.42 ERA in 20 starts. He is 0-2 with a 10.13 ERA in two career starts against the Rangers, both coming this year.

Texas will counter with right-hander Adrian Sampson. The 27-year-old is 6-7 with a 5.19 ERA in 23 games this season, including 13 starts. In four career appearances against Oakland, Sampson is 1-0 with a 5.51 ERA.
