Report: A's Sent Top Scout to Watch Yankees Minor League Team

With the trade deadline just two weeks away, the A's are deep into the scouting process.

And one of the teams that could be looking to acquire players from the A's is the Yankees.

So the A's sent their top scout to watch New York's Low-A affiliate, the Charleston RiverDogs, according to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal.

The RiverDogs feature four of the Yankees Top 30 prospects, according to MLBPipeline.com.

Outfielder Blake Rutherford (No. 3 prospect), a 2016 first-round pick, is hitting .281 with 20 doubles, two homers and 30 RBI in 71 games for Charleston.

Estevan Florial (No. 15) is a 19-year-old outfielder from the Domincan Republic. In 80 games, he's hitting .284 with 16 doubles, 11 home runs and 40 RBI.

Signed for $1 million out of South Korea in 2014, middle infielder Hoy Jun Park (No. 23) is hitting .274 with six doubles, five triples, four home runs, 30 RBI and 17 stolen bases in 75 games.

An eighth-round pick in 2015, catcher Donny Sands (No. 24) is hitting .268 with 12 doubles and 36 RBI in 64 games.

Right-handed pitcher Freicer Perez (No. 26) has made 16 starts for Charleston and has posted a 2.83 ERA with 76 strikeouts in 82.2 innings.

The Yankees could be in need of a starting pitcher and a first baseman after losing Michael Pineda and Greg Bird to season-ending injuries.
