SAN FRANCISCO - This was more of what we've come to expect from a game with the Rockies. After back-to-back games in which they struggled to get going offensively, the Giants hammered Jon Gray, knocking the hard-throwing right-hander out early and sailing to a 9-4 win on a sunny Saturday at AT&T Park.
Brandon Crawford led the onslaught, driving in four runs and continuing the ridiculous pace he has set at the plate this month. The Giants had 17 hits, with every starter notching at least one. Here's what else you need to know...
-- Crawford scorched a two-run double in his second at-bat to drive in a pair of runs and then blasted a two-run homer in the sixth. He has 31 hits in May, the most in the majors.
-- Ever wonder what a hit probability of one percent looks like? Crawford's pop-up to shallow left in the second inning had those odds, but it dropped between two outfielders and shortstop Trevor Story. That helped the Giants score their first run. Later, Andrew McCutchen hit a pop-up that had a probability of two percent. That also dropped. They apparently don't have the sun in Denver.
-- Chris Stratton continued to struggle a bit. He gave up eight hits and walked two in five innings, allowing four runs - three of them earned. He struck out one and had just four swinging strikes on his 80 pitches.

-- It's been a while since we've mentioned the attendance in this space, so: 39,195 were at the game Saturday. That's a big crowds by most standards. But it's still a surprise when the Giants don't sell out a weekend day game on a beautiful day in the city.
--- Andrew McCutchen was pulled late on a double-switch. That's a bit unusual, especially since it led to Brandon Belt playing left field. Check back for an update.
