Ex-Raiders Tight End Colton Underwood Named the Next ‘Bachelor'

Can I steal you for a second? Oakland Raiders fans looking for the right reasons to watch "The Bachelor" may have just found one.

The ABC dating show announced Monday that Colton Underwood, a tight end who spent time on the Silver and Black's practice squad from 2015-16, will star in its 23rd season when it airs next year.

Underwood finished in fourth-place on the most recent season of "The Bachelorette," and most recently appeared on spinoff "Bachelor in Paradise." Whether or not Underwood finds love, he'll have appeared on as many shows in the "Bachelor" family (three) as NFL teams. by the time his season concludes.

He bounced around the NFL from 2014-16, spending time with the now-Los Angeles Chargers, Philadelphia Eagles, and Raiders. Oakland signed him to the practice squad on Dec. 1, 2015, and then to a reserve/future contract on Jan. 4 the following year.

Underwood never suited up in a regular season game, but did attract some attention after asking out gold medal-winning Olympic Aly Raisman in a viral video.  The Raiders ultimately cut Underwood less than two weeks later, on Aug. 30, 2016.
