Two weeks ago, the geniuses who run ESPN's "Sunday Night Baseball" decided to dismiss their booth announcers of the last 21 years, Joe Morgan and Hall of Fame Giants announcer Jon Miller.
Now those ESPN geniuses might be wishing they had a do-over.
Since being pink-slipped by the ESPN TV team, Miller says he might decline the "Sunday Night Baseball" radio gig they offered him as a consolation, and make himself a full-time Giants announcer with no ESPN duties at all.
That news sounds as good to Bay Area fans as a grandfatherly voice yelling, "That ball is gone!"
Miller told the San Francisco Chronicle's Henry Schulman that it was "not likely" that he would stay on with ESPN Radio.
Miller says there are no sour grapes behind Miller's inclination to leave ESPN.
"I never would have expected 21 years when I started," Miller told the Chronicle. "We were in a prime-time slot every Sunday for 21 years. That might be unprecedented in our particular business."
